Brian Howell lives and teaches in Japan. He has been publishing stories since 1990. His first collection, The Sound of White Ants, was published in the U.K. by Elastic Press in 2004. His novel based on the life of Jan Vermeer, The Dance of Geometry, was published in March 2002 by The Toby Press. His second novel, The Curious Case of Jan Torrentius, about the notoriously libertine Dutch painter, will be published this year by Zagava. It was part-published in 2014 under the title The Curious Case of Jan Torrentius and The Followers of the Rosy Cross: Vol.1 by Zagava/Les Editions de L’Oubli. He likes cycling, Japan, the Low Countries, listening to podcasts, and takes life seriously.
